Symbol Relations

Symbol Relations is a higher-order cognitive function that is responsible for understanding and connecting ideas. It is involved in tasks that enable an individual to reason using logic and to connect and process complex relationships and concepts simultaneously. It is involved in comprehension across all academic subjects and in life.

Our Brain's Connector Hub

Picture
Imagine an idea, concept, or puzzle we're trying to grasp. It consists of various elements or facts that initially seem unrelated. Only when these are connected does their meaning emerge, giving us that enlightening 'aha' moment of understanding and insight.

This idea, concept, or puzzle can range from simple to complex, comprising a few or many elements. Connecting these elements leads to understanding. Symbol Relations is the skill of linking these elements, recognising their interconnections, and reaching a logical and meaningful conclusion with the given information.

For instance, it can be as straightforward as understanding: What is a cat?
