Our Brain's Forensic Investigator

There are clues all around us, and our brain’s investigator works to solve life’s puzzles by interpreting these non-verbal signals. Is that facial expression showing shock, surprise, sadness, or contempt? What does a change in someone’s voice – through tone, inflection, or emphasis – reveal? And what does their body language communicate through its movements and gestures?

Our Non-Verbal Thinking acts as the brain’s forensic investigator: gathering evidence and analysing the scene. It uses this information to form “common sense,” navigate complex situations, build empathy, and perform under pressure. Our brains are designed to learn the subtleties of different people and contexts, allowing us to successfully navigate the world around us.
